Technical Support

Software Engineering LLC provides the following services:

• Mac OS X Server installation, integration, and trouble shooting.
• Custom application development for mobile devices, especially iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad.
• Systems integration of servers, workstations, and mobile devices in heterogeneous networks.
• Software development project management from inception to deployment.

I've worked on a very wide variety of systems over the last 30+ years, but I am especially fond of Apple products. I first fell in love with Unix around 1981 and got my first 128K Mac within a couple weeks of it's shipping. However, I didn't focus on it professionally until Mac OS X was introduced in 2000. Under that gorgeous user interface, Mac OS X is based on BSD Unix and I know Unix.

I am an Apple Certified Technical Coordinator, specializing with issues involving Mac OS X Server, but I am also certified as a Linux System Administrator by the Linux Professional Institute and am a Novell certified SUSE Linux System Administrator.

Sometimes even more specialized skills and equipment are called for, so I never hesitate to call on colleagues for things like storage area networks or VOIP-based PBX systems.

If you are looking for technical support and I did not cover it here, contact me anyway - if I am too busy to take your project on, I can definitely refer you to a competent, experienced colleague.

Application Development

I have over 30 years experience in the computer industry and have always tried to stay close to the cutting edge.

My programming experience encompasses a wide variety of computer languages, from high level languages like HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and Java to low level languages like Forth and assembler on over 40 different processor families.

I presented my first paper on Object Oriented Programming at the 1984 FORML Conference and have taught Computer Science and Software Engineering at the University of Zimbabwe. I am still actively involved in Technology Transfer to developing countries.

My current favorite programming environment is the open source Titanium Developer from Appcelerator that uses JavaScript to generate native applications for the Apple iPhone and iPad, Google Android, Blackberry mobile devices and Mac and Windows desktop apps. If you have questions about Titanium or any other programming issue, feel free to contact me.

My name is Ron Braithwaite and I am the principal consultant with Software Engineering LLC in Portland, Oregon USA. My company has provided technical consulting services since 1987 all over the world and I have over 30 years experience in the computer industry. I also a have huge network of friends and colleagues from around the world that I call on as needed.

Much of my work comes from other consultants and I refer a lot of work to them. In general, I don't take on service contracts or maintenance work and instead work with other consulting firms to make sure you are well taken care of by qualified professionals.

Along with my server work, much of my effort centers around the iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, and other mobile devices, especially with integrating them with servers and networks. Of course, sometimes even more specialized skills and equipment are called for, so I never hesitate to call on colleagues for things like storage area networks or VOIP-based PBX systems.

My programming experience encompasses a wide variety of computer languages, from high level languages like HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and Java to low level languages like Forth and assembler on over 40 different processor families.

Perhaps where I can be of greatest service is to help guide you through the development process, from creation to deployment. Just as with my other consulting services, I know many other developers and am glad to get them involved when needed.

I look forward to working with you. I offer so many unique services that my references will vary greatly. Please contact me about your project for more information.
